About Me

I'm Becky.  A wife, a mom, and a grandma.  I'm almost 47, and I have been on a health and fitness journey for almost 8 years.  Its been a journey of many ups and downs, that's for sure!

When I first started a healthy lifestyle, I really had no idea what I was doing.  I just took it one step at a time.  First, I got in the habit of regular exercise.  Then I started setting active goals to step out of my comfort zone.  Then I quit smoking.  (that's right ~  I was a pack-a-day smoker!) Finally,  I addressed the nutrition.  It took me 3 years, but I finally lost 30 pounds and had a pretty good thing going.

Then life happened.

I lost my dad unexpectedly to undiagnosed cancer.  My daughter went into rehab for drug and alcohol addiction.  My husband and I found ourselves suddenly raising our 18 month old grandson.  With special needs, no less.  All of a sudden, life felt really hard.

I kept it together for quite awhile.  Then I didn't.  I think the stress finally took its toll and I found myself feeling depressed, exhausted, and sick.  My thyroid was overactive.  My adrenals were shot.  My hormones were out of whack.  I could barely get out of bed every day.  I did get out of bed every day; I carried out my daily responsibilities, but it was like I was walking through ankle deep soup.  Everything felt hard.  I gained all of the weight back, and then some.  (Thankfully, I did NOT start smoking again!)

I began treating with an internal medicine doctor and a bioidentical hormone specialist.  I started studying nutrition and the effects different foods can have on our bodies.  Food as medicine.  I started on a daily vitamin and supplement regimen.  Slowly but surely, I started feeling GOOD again.  But I was fluffy as heck!  I needed to lose the weight I had re-gained!

I tried a gym routine (many times).  I tried an at-home workout (not Beachbody).  Even though I knew what I should be doing nutritionally, I was not really following a plan.  I didn't know what plan to follow.

And then I met my Beachbody coach, Kristen.  She was running a free clean eating challenge on Facebook and I joined.  She gave me a meal plan!  And a shopping list!  There were daily challenges!  I thought I had died and gone to heaven.  And I wanted more.  I bought the 21 Day Fix Challenge Pack and joined Kristen's paid challenge group on May 26, 2014.  The rest is history!

I did 3 rounds of 21 Day Fix and I'm now wrapping up PiYo (and love it!).  Shakeology is the absolute best thing since sliced bread!  I've lost 10 pounds, a full size, and several inches.  But I've gained myself back.  I have gained confidence again that I can reach my goals.  My progress has been slow, but I'm progressing, both on the inside and out.  I'm looking inside and finding my true why.  (And cleaning out the cobwebs while I'm there!)

My daily message to me is this:
"I AM MORE THAN GOOD ENOUGH to reach my goals".  And so are you!
